同樣跟Pedigree(寶路)一樣給Effen代理的Whiskas(偉嘉)在台灣的評價不是很好
之前都用偉嘉保鮮包也在看到多篇負面文章而改用Eukanuba
但是北美還有台灣的工廠是不同的
而且在這裡都沒有聽過Whiskas的負面消息
問過獸醫他們也說Whiskas是個不錯的廠牌
但總是覺得心理怪怪的，因為還是給自己的貓咪吃阿@@
所以想問問在北美或是亞洲以外的人對於Whiskas的評價如何呢？？

To me, Whiskas is still a grocery brand. Cat foods are cheaper in US (maybe Cadada too) than in Taiwan, why not try Science Diet(Hill's). If you buy a big pack(10 pounds), the price is $19.5 USD. Then the price per pound will not be too much different than the Whiskas you mentioned.

Instead, medical fees are charged much higher in US(maybe Canada too) than in Taiwan. Good food can prevent your cat from some potential diseases. So I would say that it is an investment to buy reliable cat foods for your cats.

Hi thx for your reply, to us its not the matter of pricing but I greatly apperciate your suggestions!

We are not feeding Whiskas as dry but as pouches, however after hearing what happened in Taiwan we stopped and changed to Eukanuba, Ixams, and Hills. For dry we feed our cats Eukanuba and MidiCal (which can only be bought at the cat hospital), recently tho we are thinking of adding Hills and Royal Canin.

In Canada almost half of the pet food is import by Effen (take Whiskas and Sheba for examples)
but in my opinion the manufactories are what affect the outcomes of the product realiablities. I've read an article here indicating Taiwan's Whiskas are manufactured in Thailand, but to my understanding here in Canada its US (or possibly Mexico...

My intention of posting this question is to see how the North Americans react when they hear the brand Whiskas. I've asked some realiable breeders and a extremly credible vet, and get nothing but positive feedbacks from them. How reliable is reliable? Pedigree was a very good brand until the explosive news. Is it because the manufactories' differences that cause this incident or other factors? Unfortunately, no one not even Effen can give us an answer.

in my opinion, I believe more in holistic pet food...meaning, human grade pet food. Brands such as Whiskas, Cat Chow, Iams, Friskies, Fancy Feast.....and so on are all grocery brand. In another word, it is like McDonald junk food.
Brands such as Eagle Pack, Wellness, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers' Souls, Holistic Blend, or so, are all made with human grade ingredients. These brands don't perform cruel animal testings and do not add harmful chemicals such as BHT or BHA (preservatives). Holistic pet food are made with real and fresh meat meant for human consumptions and not from animal by-products such as feet, head...etc (animal parts that are not consumable for humans are made into pet food ).
If you feed your animals on natural holistic pet food, you can see a big difference in terms of their coat and health conditions.
Science Diet, Eukanuba (Eukanuba is owned by Iams), and Royal Canin are still using either animal by-products or chemical additives that are harmful to animal's health in the long term.
I am just telling you some of the facts that I know from many years of experience dealing with pet food distributors in Canada and some of the vets.
The reason why most of the vets recommend either Science Diet is because their business are supported by the company or the vets usually don't have any nutritional education on companion animals, so they don't know what's real good for them. They sell those Science Diet brand because most of their textbooks told them so~~
Anyhow, I can go on and on on this subject, but if you are interested to know more about holistic pet food, I have friend who made a collection of articles on it and I can forward it to you.
